Democracy in Columbus Campaign

Columbus City Council does not represent everyday working people in the city and they recently created a fake Districts system to ensure they never have to. 

Columbus has 9 Districts for the 9 Council seats, but the people of those Districts don’t vote for the person in their seat alone: the entire City votes on every single seat. This allows more affluent neighborhoods to determine every election for every seat, even if the District represents working-class neighborhoods. 

If you care about democratic representation, want Columbus neighborhoods to be able to have a say in who represents them, or are unhappy about Columbus City Council’s complete lack of action on rising rent prices, lack of good union jobs, unreliable buses, or any material benefits for working people at all, then join our campaign to create real Districts and Democracy in Columbus. 

This is the first vital step to creating positive change in Columbus.

City Council Non-Cooperation Campaign

The City Council Non-Cooperation Campaign is focused on creating non-cooperation resolutions in cities around Central Ohio. We have developed these resolutions to pressure cities from cooperating with ICE and discriminating against trans individuals. This work includes showing up to city council meetings, providing testimony, canvassing and working to create clear and concise language in resolutions and petitions, among other documents. In addition, we host educational events to explain this work and engage the public in how they can also pressure local councils to take action. Through this work our aim is to create protections for our trans and migrant neighbors, making Columbus and surrounding cities safer for the working class. Join our campaign meetings on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays, to get involved with this work!
